Obsidian is the sole owner of Obsidian Renewables, LLC, a new company focused on renewable energy which is developing large scale ground mounted photovoltaic solar energy projects in south-central Oregon.

Obsidian Renewables, LLC approaches the energy sector with a commitment to renewable, clean, affordable energy. Pursuing a variety of larger scale ground mounted projects in south-central Oregon, Obsidian Renewables seeks to utilize the vast photovoltaic (PV) energy potential of Oregon’s high desert region.

Energy captured through PV technology is highly stable and predictable. South-central Oregon receives approximately 300+ days of sun a year. Further adding to the desirability of solar, the hours of the day the sun will be available for energy harvest is a relatively known quantity. This peak power generation time for solar energy also coincides with peak power usage times, making PV solar a more effective power resource.

Though PV is capable of generating power at all times the sun shines, less energy is generated during the rising and setting of the sun or during periods of cloud cover. In an effort to further increase the stability and predictability of solar power, Obsidian is also exploring battery and other storage technologies.

Using a variety of government incentives, as well as innovative business strategies, Obsidian Renewables has optimized the PV business model, ensuring a profitable venture at still highly affordable rates.
